How do we find Inner Peace in troubles times?  What is the Key to maintaining connection to our core purpose and principles, when the world is rapidly shifting realities and bending beyond our level of experience?  How do we face our greatest fears and challenges, while moving through each arriving experience with ease and grace?  What role does Gratitude play in finding Inner Peace?

Eliana Gilad, founder of Voices of Eden an internationally recognized singer and composer of five healing music cd’s, a peace activist, and author of two books gathered a group of  ‘Everyday Masters’  to explore these questions (and more) … to dialog, share wisdom and empower the Inner Peace process.

As we hugged, saying ‘Goodbye for Now’, it dawned on me our Hearts had just kissed.  We became One for a cosmic moment, embracing fully the wholeness of one another, and I experienced the Bliss of the resolving of polarities.

What do I mean by the ‘resolving of polarities”?

This same friend had just walked me through a powerful installation of a conscious awareness of inner patterns/programs that embody, perpetuate and co-create Bliss.  Ecstasy. Ekstasis.

Ekstasis is defined as this: The state of being beside one’s self or rapt out of one’s self.

Ekstasis is a word I use to describe what it feels like when I’m in the ‘flow’.  When I am tapped into the rhythm of Source, in harmony with Self and the World, and fully able to embody, perpetuate and co-create inspired connections and experience the state of Bliss.

So, the ‘resolving of polarities’ is the Divine Union.  It is the merging of This and Not This.  It is accepting All that IS, embracing fully the quantum dimensions of present-moment expression,and acting from a place of integrity and Unity. A willingness to surrender the illusion of separation and become ONE. One with Self.  One with Another. One with Life.  One with God.  One with the energy of Love.

Such is the nature of a Hug.

As we feel into this truth, we become aware that Hugging is a Divine Union, a merging of This (Self) and Not This (Other).  It is an acceptance of All that IS between us, as we embrace the Cosmic embodiment beside us, and become ONE.

This state of Oneness, and the Love that flows through a hug, continues long after we have said our Goodbyes and parted ways.  The coming together has touched our soul so deeply, kissed our Heart so completely, we are able to return to one another instantly by remembering the HUG.

Interestingly,  hugging is akin to Gratitude (you knew I’d slip it in, right?)

Gratitude is both give and receive.   When we enter a hug, we are both giver and receiver, Embraced and Embrace-er.   In every way, hugging transcends what words cannot convey, allowing our hearts to speak the pure language of Love … and so comes the resolution of polarities - the Divine Union.  With it, the experience of ekstasis.

Perhaps the definition, ‘rapt out of one’s self’ also means ‘wrapped out of oneself’.  Ahhhh … the ecstasy of a HUG.

So beloveds … I’m feeling especially grateful today.  Grateful for a propensity towards hugging.  (Did I tell you I LOVE HUGGING?!!!)  Grateful to my Nana, who embedded a deep appreciation for being hugged.  Oh! to have those mushy Grandma arms wrapped around me. Grateful for my children, young and old, who still allow me to lay some Hug Love on them, and return it just as quickly.   Grateful for a (k)new friend, whose presence and guidance elicited an even deeper appreciation of something so dear me.

So I’m praying forward the Love, flowing through the inter-web a big, mushy *HUG* …  a Heart Kiss from me to you … in Gratitude for this gathering space, to shine light on inspired insights and for all the times your Love has kissed my heart.

OOOOoooo …. guess what just came thru …

even in the word HUG, we find the resolving of polarities:

Today, I AM appreciating the beautiful tree still breathing beyond my window.  I say ’still breathing’ because two days ago its life was in peril.

I became aware of its precarious position as I sat at my desk, staring thru the windows of my computer, grossly involved in I’m not sure what.

Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I looked up to find the tree shaking wildly from side to side, as a “landscaper” tried to push it over and snap! its trunk.

Thankfully the ‘push’ of his small Cat-like machine was no match for the strength of deep roots.

Now, I have a confession:  One of the things I want to see before I pass from this earth is a falling tree.

To be more specific, to witness a tree gratefully giving itself back to the land, having lived a full life, returning home in its own time.   Not cut down, nor pushed over or having slowly died because it has been trimmed beyond its ability to thrive.

So, after racing thoughts seered through my mind, “No!  This is not how I want to see a tree go!”,  I prayed for a way to save this verdant friend and was inspired to make my way to the fence.

I greeted the ‘tree attackers’, inquired about their plans, then politely told them the tree wanted to stay — pointing out its unique beauty, cooling shade, and the value it would bring to the property they are trying to sell. Reiterating the tree wanted to stay did little more than garner smirks and rolled eyes.  I guess they don’t talk to trees often.

Only when I pointed out that its roots extended to my property, and that if uprooted, may cause trouble with the water and electric lines that run along the fence did they finally agree to re-look at the decision to take it out.

So what did the tree teach me about the Art of Persuasion?

We have to find what inspires others, not just what turns us on, in order to make positive change in the world.

We also have to be willing to have flexibility while standing our ground, bend toward the Lighter side of life, reach out to our neighbors, stick true to the be-leaf anything is possible AND let go of all attachments in order to nourish upcoming opportunities to thrive and grow!  What an amazing teacher trees can be!

So today I invite you to shift perspective and approach an opportunity or challenge from the other parties point of view.  How will this change your approach?  What inspiring ideas will come to you when the perspective changes from ‘What’s in it for me’ to ‘What’s in it for you’?

Ukehi!

In meeting with James, we were led to the topic of social justice — one James is deeply committed to — and he provided his simple, yet profound definition: a healed individual.

Imagine, if we were to shift our judicial systems approach from condemnation and isolation to personal healing and transformation — beginning from the inside out. Wow!

This is exactly what Sustainable Futures is out to do, and we are proud to be aligned with a team that is recycling not just materials — but hearts and minds, too.

While serving current inmates to provide tools for healing, empowerment and jobs training in a rapidly changing market, Sustainable Futures also embraces a business model built around re-purposing precious resources - on this case, wine bottles - into new, useful products thus keeping these materials out of the landfill and “in the loop”. We’ll keep you updated as this timely venture continues to be made manifest.

On that note: James O’Dea will be in Boise for the ‘Living in the Fire of Change’ conference, and a portion of all proceeds will directly support Sustainable Futures and their noble mission to be ‘focused on creating value in human potential while reducing our environmental footprint’.
